Arthur “Art” Lee Stich, of Plantation Florida, passed away on October 4, 2026, two days after celebrating his 94th birthday.
Art’s life was defined above all by devotion, family, and steady warmth. At the heart of his world was his beloved wife, Joyce Stich. Together for 72 remarkable years, their enduring marriage stood as a true beacon of commitment, partnership, and shared joy.
A man dedicated to service, Art honorably served for 14 years in the Kentucky and Indiana National Guard. He also built an accomplished lifelong career with the Otis Elevator Company. Beginning as an apprentice helper in Louisville, he advanced through the ranks to mechanic, served in Evansville Indiana, Green Bay Wisconsin, and ultimately retired as the Regional Manager of Branch Operations for the Florida and Caribbean Region in Miami Florida.
When he was not working or lending a hand, Art found great joy on the water. He loved boating and fishing, and few traditions meant more to him than the annual family lobstering vacation in the Florida Keys—treasured trips filled with laughter, adventure, and memories.
Art was equally known as a steadfast friend, neighbor, and mentor. He was always the first to step forward whenever someone needed help. Whether troubleshooting a car, repairing a pool pump, fixing a lawnmower, or tackling any household puzzle, Art had the tools, the expertise, and the generous heart to make things right. His everyday kindness left an indelible mark on everyone fortunate enough to know him.
Art was preceded in death by his cherished sons, Scott, Mark, and Brian, as well as his brother, Carl Stich (Millie), whose memories remained etched forever in his heart.
He is survived by his devoted wife, Joyce; his son, David Stich (Carrie); daughter-in-law, Kim Stich; grandchildren, Daniel Stich, Julie Stich, Katy Pond (Kyle), and Christopher Stich (Andrea); and their children, Everett and Remy, all of whom carry forward his legacy of love and close-knit family bonds. He also leaves behind a large, loving extended family of nieces and nephews across Kentucky.
Art’s generous spirit, ready smile, and enduring legacy of love will be fondly remembered and celebrated by all who had the privilege of sharing in his life.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in Art’s memory to Plantation United Methodist Church, or a charity of your choice.
