Please connect after 6:45 In case of difficulty, please use this link Alfred Anthony Porro, Jr. entered peacefully into the presence of our Lord and Savior on Thursday December 8, 2022 at the age of 87. Al was born to the late Nancy and Alfred A. Porro, Sr. in Jersey City, NJ on March 14, 1935. He grew up in Lyndhurst, NJ with his brother Robert Porro (d) and sister Mary (Porro) Lotito. He graduated from Lyndhurst High School in 1952 and received a Bachelors degree from Rutgers University in 1956. He combined his last year of college with the first year of law school completing his Juris Doctorate at Rutgers Law School in 1958. In 1982, Al earned a Masters of Law Degree from Temple Law School. Between 1958 and 1965, he served in both the enlisted and officer ranks of the Army Reserves and received an honorable discharge. Al had a love of the arts and all things music. He played the trumpet and bass in the band “The Rhythmaires” from his early teen years until entering Law school. Throughout his law career, he was an expert in coastal and wetland law and was featured in the 1965 issue of National Geographic. He served as legal counsel to U.S. Congressman Henry Helstoski from 1965 to 1977. Al was a law professor at Temple University Law School from 1979 to 1982 and at the University of Baltimore Law School from 1982 to 1988 where he served as the faculty advisor for the Black Law Student Association. His favorite past times were playing golf, beating his family in “horse” with his famous hook shot, and being with his family. He was known for his “bakery route” in NJ delivering “vitamins” every Saturday morning to each of his many grandchildren. His faith played an important role in everything he did and his love for Jesus was apparent to all who knew him. Al was blessed with a large family and is survived by his wife Joan A. Porro, his seven children: Janet Porro, Kenneth Porro (wife Kathy), Kevin Porro (wife Elizabeth), Keith Porro, Jodi (Porro) Vitolo (husband Bari), Jeanine (Porro) Lappin (husband Jonathan), and Amanda Porro, his seventeen grandchildren: Alyssa Decker, Kristen Reilly, Kyle Porro, Konnor Porro, Travis Soine, Justin Porro, Brittany Porro, Lauren Stefanic, Austin Porro, Hunter Porro, Gianna Vitolo, Giulia Vitolo, Giaci Vitolo, Alexander Lappin, Andrew Lappin, Juliana Corallo and Joshua Corallo, and three great grandchildren: Bennett and Pierce Decker and Ava Stefanic.
