Thelma Caldwell

CALDWELL, Thelma Dearl Christie of Plantation, passed away on Friday, October 17. A resident of South Florida since 1959, originally from Mooresville, NC, Mrs. Caldwell was a lovely southern lady whose family, church and friends were her life. She was an active member of Plantation United Methodist Church and had spent the last 14 months at her assisted living home in Wilton Manors where the residents and staff knew her as "Carolina." She previously had volunteered at the Broward County Schools Clothing Bank for some 40 years. She was predeceased by husband Jack Caldwell, son Scott Caldwell of Columbia, SC, sister Elizabeth Hill of Charlotte, NC and brother Douglas Christie of Mooresville, and is survived by son Norman Caldwell of Pompano Beach, daughter Thana Leary and son-in-law Brian Leary of Fort Lauderdale, daughter-in-law Leslie Caldwell of Columbia, grandsons Christopher Leary of Plantation and Thomas Leary of Toronto, Canada, sister Margaret Goodrum of Mooresville and brother Eugene Christie of Macon, GA. Being one of five children and married to Jack who was one of nine, she was blessed with many brothers- and sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews. Visitation will be at 2:00 P.M. followed by a 3:00 service on Wednesday, October 22 at Plantation United Methodist Church, 1001 N.W. 70th Avenue, Plantation. Interment will be in the Williamson Chapel United Methodist Church Cemetery, Mooresville. Memorials may be made to Plantation United Methodist Church, 1001 N.W. 70th Avenue, Plantation, FL 33313.
