H. George Griffis, 83, of Sunrise, Florida, passed away, Friday August 22, 2014 at his home surrounded by his wife and loving family. George was born August 15, 1931 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania to Horace and Florence Griffis; he married the former Joan Beverly Templeton in New York City on the CBS TV show Bride and Groom. George was employed by Bell of Pennsylvania, Southern Bell, Bell South, and ended his career with AT&T. One of his fondest memories was as Foreman in charge of installing the cable service from Coral Gables to Key Biscayne in Florida to President Nixon’s Florida retreat home. He spent most of his retired years enjoying life with his wife Joan, collecting model cars, nutcrackers, and spending time with his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. George is survived by his loving wife of 62 years Joan, son, Stephen and his wife Sarita of Orlando, FL, daughter, Joanne Griffis Chism and her husband Lloyd of Miami, FL, and daughter, Lisa Griffis Tasse and her husband John of Cooper City, FL, seven grandchildren and three great grandchildren, brother, Stephen Griffis and sister, Valerie Griffis Stein, and several nieces and nephews. A celebration of his life will be begin at 5:00 pm, Friday, August 29, 2014 at TM Ralph Funeral Homes Sawgrass / Weston 371 NW 136th Avenue Sunrise, FL 33325. Family and Friends may visit with the Family from 4:00 pm until 5:00 p.m., Friday, at the funeral home. Chaplain Rick Braswell will be officiating memorial service.
