Colonel Louis Van Der Beek

February 3, 1920 — March 1, 2014

Col. Louis (Van) M. Van Der Beek, passed away peacefully with his loved ones surrounding him on 3/1/14. He was 94. He was born in Elizabeth, New Jersey, attended Kimball Union Prep School and graduated from NYU. While serving 21 years in the Air Force Van was an ROTC instructor at Rutgers and was stationed in Casablanca, the Aleutian Islands and throughout the US. Van loved to travel the world and especially loved cruising. He was a caring father to his daughter Marsha, son David, 2 granddaughters Laura and Ann Marie, four great-grandchildren, Nicholas, Samantha, Mai & Christopher but most of all, he was a loving husband to his wife Harriet for 71 years and lived in Plantation, Florida for 40 years. Viewing will be held Wed. 3/5/14 at T.M. Ralph Funeral Home 7001 NW 4th St. Plantation from 6pm to 8pm. Funeral services will be at Plantation Community Church 6501 W. Broward Blvd. Plantation on Thursday, 3/6/14 at 10am with burial at 12:45pm at South Florida National Cemetery 6501 S SR 7 Lake Worth, FL.
