Matthew Valentine

Valentine, Matthew James 54 peacefully joined his parents on February 18, 2014. Born on January 18, 1960 to Frederick L. Valentine and Mary Ann Bobbett Valentine in Chicago, IL. Matthew was just 9 years old when his parents moved the family to Fort Lauderdale, FL; here he learned to love music, sports, and politics. Graduating from FAU with a Masters Degree in History, he incorporated his interests into his career as a librarian for the Broward County Library system. Matthew is survived by his sister Amy Valentine and Lynda Garne of Portland, OR; his brothers Paul Valentine and Phyllis Petitt of Lake Worth and Frederick and Lori Valentine, Jr. of Fort Lauderdale, his nephew, Grant Valentine of Hollywood, FL and niece Katrina Valentine of Tampa, FL. He is also survived by his aunt, Jane Coddington of Montgomery, NY. Viewing will be held from 4:00-8:00 PM on Friday, February 21 at the funeral home. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. David Catholic Church, 3900 S. University Drive, Davie, FL on Saturday 1:00 PM. Interment will follow at Lauderdale Memorial Park 2001 SW 4 Avenue Fort Lauderdale, FL. In lieu of flowers please send you donation to St. Jude Children’s Hospital. Arrangements by T.M.
